Apsilon™ Universal DNA/RNA Extraction Kit
Apsilon™ Universal DNA/RNA Extraction Kit provides a unique and rapid method to extract and purify both DNA and RNA in around 13 mins, from hosts as well as a variety of microorganisms, including viruses, gram-negative bacteria, gram-positive bacteria and fungi, from biological fluids and swab samples. This kit, which utilizes magnetic beads-based technology, is compatible with automated platforms to enable high throughput extraction with wide variety of choices in extremely short processing time. Reagents are specially formulated to be enzyme-free, alcohol-free and stable when stored at room temperature, thus eliminating any special storage and handling requirements.

Better or comparable performance compared with other commercial kits.
Nucleic acid extractions from plasma or serum spiked with dengue virus Type 2 (RNA virus) at indicated inputs with Apsilon™ kit and leading commercial kits. Protocols were followed according to manufacturers' instructions. RT-qPCR performances were evaluated, and Apsilon™ kit is better or comparable to other commercial kits. (Concentration of high input is 10x that of low input).

High quality nucleic acid obtained from our kit contain no PCR inhibitors.
Nucleic acid extraction from 300 μL plasma spiked with dengue virus Type 2 (RNA virus) was performed with Apsilon™ Universal DNA/RNA Extraction Kit. RT-qPCR performances of varying dilutions of eluates indicate there is little or no PCR inhibition.

Greater numbers of bacterial species detected using our kits compared to other commercial kits.
Nucleic acid extractions from pooled buccal swabs in MTM were performed with Apsilon™ and other commercial kits. An NGS-specific protocol was performed for Apsilon™ kit, while manufacturers' instructions were followed for the other kits. The extracted nucleic acids were then used for paired-end metagenome amplicon sequencing (Library prep, sequencing and analysis done by Macrogen). Based on Q20 and Q30 results, Apsilon™ kit produced high quality sequencing data that is comparable to other commercial kits. Furthermore greater numbers of bacterial genus (particularly gram-positive bacteria) and species were detected in the sequencing results from Apsilon™ kit. This suggests that the Apsilon™ kit can extract a greater diversity of bacteria compared to other kits, thus allowing better metagenome sequencing coverage.

Better microbial diversity and evenness obtained from our kit's sequencing data.
Based on alpha diversity metrics (Shannon, Gini-Simpson, and PD whole tree), Apsilon™ kit consistently showed higher metric values compared to those of other commercial kits. This indicates that Apsilon™ kit's sequencing data has better microbial diversity and evenness, which is attributed to its superior lysis efficiency and unbiased isolation process.

Apsilon™ Universal DNA/RNA Extraction Kit can extract high quality nucleic acid from urine.
Apsilon™ Universal DNA/RNA Extraction Kit was used to extract nucleic acid from 300 μL urine or PBS spiked with S. aureus (gram-positive bacteria) at indicated concentrations. qPCR was performed and similar Cq values were obtained from both eluates, indicating that Apsilon™ kit can extract nucleic acid effectively from urine with no inhibitory effects.

High quality nucleic acid obtained from our kit show good qPCR performance.
Nucleic acid extraction from 300 μL human vaginal wet swab sample spiked with Neisseria gonorrhoeae at indicated concentrations was performed with both Apsilon™ Universal DNA/RNA Extraction Kit and Apsilon™ STD (Swab) DNA/RNA Extraction Kit. Similar Cq values were obtained from both eluates, indicating that they have similar extraction efficiencies.

Apsilon™ Universal DNA/RNA Extraction Kit and Apsilon™ Nasal Swab DNA/RNA Extraction Kit were used to extract nucleic acid from 300 μL human nasal wet swab sample spiked with S. aureus (gram-positive bacteria) at indicated concentrations. qPCR results indicate that both kits have comparable performances for S. aureus extraction from nasal swab samples.
